Which Foxtel Option Should I Use on My ENGLAON TV?

This guide explains the difference between Foxtel iQ, Foxtel Now, and Foxtel Go, and how they may work with your ENGLAON TV.

What Is Foxtel / Foxtel iQ?

Foxtel / Foxtel iQ is Foxtel’s set-top box service. It uses a Foxtel iQ box, such as iQ3, iQ4 or iQ5.

You can connect a Foxtel iQ box to your ENGLAON TV using an HDMI cable.

If you have an iQ4 or iQ5 and want to watch Foxtel 4K Ultra HD content, you will generally need:

  • a compatible 4K UHD TV
  • an iQ4 or iQ5 box
  • an eligible Foxtel package
  • compatible HDMI / HDCP requirements
  • a suitable internet connection where required by Foxtel

If you connect an iQ4 or iQ5 to an ENGLAON HD or Full HD TV, the box may still connect by HDMI, but the TV cannot display true 4K resolution because the TV panel is not 4K.

For the best Foxtel 4K setup, we recommend using an ENGLAON 4K model such as the X90Pro Series where available.

What Is Foxtel Now?

Foxtel Now is Foxtel’s internet streaming subscription. It does not require a Foxtel iQ set-top box.

You may be able to watch Foxtel Now through:

  • the Foxtel app / Foxtel Now app on a compatible Smart TV or Google TV device
  • Chromecast or AirPlay
  • a supported streaming device
  • PC or Mac
  • mobile or tablet using Foxtel Go

On an ENGLAON Android TV or Google TV, you can try:

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for Foxtel or Foxtel Now.
  3. Install the app if available.
  4. Sign in with your Foxtel Now account, or the account type required by Foxtel.

App availability is controlled by Foxtel and Google Play. It may depend on the TV model, operating system version, Google Play region, Foxtel subscription type, and Foxtel’s current device compatibility rules.

What Is Foxtel Go?

Foxtel Go is mainly designed for:

  • mobile phones
  • tablets
  • PC
  • Mac

Foxtel Go is not usually designed as a direct Google TV / Smart TV app, so it may not appear in the Google Play Store on your ENGLAON TV.

If your Foxtel account and Foxtel Go app support casting, you may be able to cast from your phone or tablet to your ENGLAON Google TV.

To try casting:

  1. Open Foxtel Go on your phone or tablet.
  2. Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Look for the Chromecast icon in the Foxtel Go app.
  4. Select your ENGLAON Google TV or compatible Chromecast device.

If the cast icon does not appear, this is usually controlled by Foxtel’s app, account, content rights or device compatibility.

Why Can I Find Foxtel Now but Not Foxtel Go?

This is usually normal.

ENGLAON TVs can only install apps that the app provider makes available through the Google Play Store.

Foxtel Now is available on All ENGLAON Android TV / Google TV devices because it is Foxtel’s streaming subscription app.

Foxtel Go is mainly designed for mobile, tablet, PC and Mac use, so it may not appear as a direct TV app.

This does not usually mean there is a fault with your ENGLAON TV.

If I Have Foxtel iQ, Can I Use Foxtel Go or Foxtel Now?

Foxtel Now subscriptionYes, using your Foxtel Now username and passwordYes

In simple terms:

Foxtel Go is usually a companion app for eligible Foxtel or Foxtel Now customers.
Foxtel Now is a separate internet streaming subscription.Having a Foxtel iQ box does not normally mean you can use Foxtel Now for free.

Can I Watch Foxtel 4K on Any ENGLAON TV?

A 4K TV can only show true 4K when the source also provides 4K content.

For Foxtel 4K Ultra HD, you generally need a Foxtel iQ4 or iQ5, an eligible Foxtel package, and a compatible 4K UHD TV.

If you use an ENGLAON HD or Full HD TV, Foxtel may still work through HDMI, but it will display at the TV’s supported resolution, not true 4K.

Casting Foxtel Go or using Foxtel Now on a 4K TV does not automatically mean the stream will be Foxtel 4K Ultra HD. The final picture quality depends on Foxtel’s stream, your subscription, your device, your internet connection, and Foxtel’s content availability.

Will Foxtel Now become 4K on an ENGLAON 4K TV?

No. A 4K TV can show 4K content only when the source provides 4K.

Foxtel Now is listed by Foxtel as streaming up to 1080p for On Demand and up to 720p for linear TV, so it is not Foxtel 4K Ultra HD.

If I cast Foxtel Go to my ENGLAON 4K TV, will it be 4K?

No. Casting Foxtel Go to a 4K TV does not make the content 4K.

Streaming quality, casting support, program access, and availability are controlled by Foxtel.

If you want Foxtel 4K Ultra HD, please confirm with Foxtel that you have a compatible iQ4 or iQ5 box and an eligible 4K package.

Which Foxtel Option Should I Choose?

If you already have a Foxtel iQ4 or iQ5 box, the easiest option is to connect it to your ENGLAON TV by HDMI.

If you want to watch Foxtel without a set-top box, Foxtel Now may be suitable, provided the app is available on your TV or supported device.

If you mainly watch on a phone, tablet, PC or Mac, Foxtel Go is the companion app for eligible Foxtel Now customers. Casting to TV may work if supported by Foxtel.

Important Note

ENGLAON does not control Foxtel app availability, account access, subscription eligibility, casting permission or content rights.

If you are unsure whether your Foxtel account supports Foxtel Go, Foxtel Now, iQ4/iQ5 or 4K Ultra HD, please check directly with Foxtel before purchasing or troubleshooting your TV setup.
