What is "Database Empty" meanUpdated 2 months ago

Why Does My TV Show “Database Empty”?

If your TV displays “Database Empty”, it usually means:

The TV is not receiving any Free-to-Air (FTA) signal, so no channels can be stored.

This is not a fault with the TV . it is almost always related to signal, setup, or scanning.

Common Causes (FTA Signal Not Detected)

• Antenna not connected or loose
• Antenna booster/power plate turned OFF (very common in caravans)
• Weak or no signal in the area
• Incorrect tuner mode selected (e.g. Satellite instead of Antenna)
• Channel scan was not completed properly

How to Fix — Step-by-Step Channel Rescan

Step 1 — Select the Correct Source

  1. Press SOURCE / INPUT on the remote
  2. Select TV / DTV (Digital TV)

Step 2 — Check Antenna Connection

  1. Ensure the antenna cable is:
    • Firmly connected to the RF / ANT IN port
  2. If using in a caravan:
    • Turn ON the antenna booster / wall plate
    • (No power = no signal)

Step 3 — Start Auto Channel Scan

  1. Press Settings (⚙️)
  2. Go to Auto Scan / Auto Tuning / Channel Scan

Step 4 — Select the Correct Tuner Type

Choose based on your setup:

  • DVB-T / DVB-T2 (Antenna / Air)
→ For standard Free-to-Air TV (Australia & NZ)

Step 5 — Run the Scan

  1. Start the scan
  2. Wait until it reaches 100%
  3. Channels will be saved automatically

If Still No Channels Found

Please check the following:

1. Booster / Signal Power

  • Ensure booster is ON
  • This is the #1 cause in caravans

2. Try Another Location

  • Move to an area with better reception

3. Check Antenna & Cable

  • Damaged or loose cable = no signal
  • Try another antenna if possible

4. Correct Tuner Mode

  • Make sure you selected DVB-T/T2, NOT satellite

5. Perform Factory Reset (if needed)

  • Then repeat the scan process
