Unable to Find TV Channels (Step 2)Updated 9 days ago

Unable to Find TV Channels- Product-Related Root Causes

(Excludes weather, coverage black spots and broadcast outages)

When signal coverage is available but channels cannot be found, the issue is typically related to antenna setup, cabling, configuration, or installation.

1️⃣ Masthead Amplifier / Signal Booster Configuration Issues

Improper amplifier configuration may cause:

  • 0 channels found

  • All channels suddenly lost

⚠ Double Amplification (Very Common Issue)

Using multiple amplifiers in the same signal chain can overload the TV tuner.

This commonly occurs when:

  • Two or more signal boosters are installed

  • ENGLAON ETA380HV2 antenna (with built-in amplifier) is used together with an additional signal booster

  • Omni antenna with internal amplifier is connected to another inline booster

📌 Over-amplification can be just as problematic as weak signal.

2️⃣ Antenna Booster / Power Plate Not Activated

In caravan / RV installations, many systems include:

The green LED on the wall plate must be ON.

If LED is OFF:

  • Antenna amplifier is not powered

  • No signal reaches the TV

  • Auto scan will return 0 channels

📌 In caravans, this is one of the most common causes.

3️⃣ Cabling & Connection Faults

A faulty cable system is one of the most frequent causes.

Check For:

  • Loose ANT IN / RF port connection

  • Damaged coaxial cable

  • Corroded connectors

If signal is split to multiple TVs:

  • Excessive splitters reduce signal strength

  • Cheap splitters introduce signal loss

  • Distribution amplifiers may fail or overload

Connect the antenna cable directly to one TV only. Then perform a rescan.

4️⃣ Incorrect Antenna Port Used on TV

Many ENGLAON TVs include:

  • DVB-T2 (Terrestrial Free-to-Air Australia/NZ)

  • DVB-S2 / LNB (Satellite input)

✅ Correct Setup

Antenna cable must be connected to:

  • DVB-T2 / RF (Antenna) Port

  • ❌ DVB-S2 / LNB (Satellite Port)

5️⃣ Google TV / Tuner Configuration Errors

Incorrect system configuration may prevent channels from being detected.

Must Confirm:

  • Country set to Australia

  • Input source set to Antenna / Terrestrial

  • NOT set to Cable

  • NOT set to Satellite

  • Digital scan selected (not analogue)

Settings → Channels → Channel Setup → Antenna / Terrestrial → Auto Scan

📌 Common scenario:
Customer moved caravan/location but did not retune TV.

6️⃣ Resetting the TV (Troubleshooting Step)

If all hardware and configuration checks are correct but channels still cannot be found:

Perform a Factory Reset

Settings → System → Reset → Factory Reset

After reset:

  • Re-select Country (Australia)

  • Choose Antenna / Terrestrial

  • Perform Auto Scan

📌 Resetting clears corrupted tuner data and restores default broadcast configuration.
