RV TV Mount Buying GuideUpdated 3 days ago

How to Choose a Caravan TV Bracket

Installing a TV in a caravan or motorhome requires different considerations compared with a home setup.

Caravans experience road vibration, limited space, and multiple viewing positions, so choosing the right caravan TV bracket is important for both safety and comfort.

This guide explains what to consider when choosing the best RV TV mount or caravan TV wall bracket.

1. Placement Considerations

When deciding where to install your caravan TV, consider the following:

• Viewing angle – The centre of the screen should ideally be at eye level when seated.
• Glare – Position the TV to minimise glare from windows or interior lights.
• Accessibility – Ensure easy access to antenna ports, power connections, and cables.
• Safety – Make sure the TV and bracket do not obstruct walkways or emergency exits.

2. Check Caravan Wall Strength and TV Weight

Caravan walls are typically thinner than house walls, so the mounting location must be able to safely support the TV.

If installing the bracket yourself, ensure the mounting point:

• Is attached to a structural frame or support
• Can support the combined weight of the TV and bracket

We recommend installing an additional reinforcement plate whenever possible.
This distributes the weight across the wall and mounting points, improving safety and preventing potential damage to the caravan wall.

3. Choose the Right Mount Type and VESA Compatibility

A full-motion TV bracket allows the TV to:

• Swivel left and right
• Tilt up and down
• Extend away from the wall

This flexibility makes it easier to adjust the viewing angle in compact caravan spaces.

Most TVs also use the VESA mounting standard, which refers to the distance between the mounting holes on the back of the TV. Common caravan TV VESA patterns include:

75 × 75 mm /100 × 100 mm / 200 × 200 mm

If your TV uses 200 × 100 mm VESA, you may need a VESA 200x200 mm bracket or a VESA Conversion Adapter to suit your existing mount.

4. Ease of Installation

Installation should be simple and secure.

Look for features such as:

• Easy wall plate installation
• A built-in level indicator for accurate alignment

These features help caravan owners install the bracket quickly and correctly.

5. Cable Management

A good TV mount should allow cables to:

• Run neatly behind the TV
• Stay secure during travel

This keeps the caravan interior tidy and helps prevent cable damage while driving.

6. Optional Outdoor Viewing

Many caravan owners also enjoy watching TV outside the caravan.

Some TV brackets allow the TV to be easily removed from the interior bracket and mounted outside when needed, providing greater flexibility for outdoor entertainment.
